Page 1: Introduction

The Health Sciences Doctoral Training Centre (HSDTC) provides a limited number of bursaries to support doctoral research students in the Health Faculties at King’s College London to attend short courses at the Department of Biostatistics & Health Informatics delivered at the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology & Neuroscience.

Who can apply

PGR students (including PhD, DClinPsy, MD(Res), and MRes) in the Health Faculties at King's College London are eligible to apply for these bursaries.

Awards of up to £475 will be made on an individual basis. Please note: A maximum of two HSDTC Biostatistics & Health Informatics Bursaries will be awarded to each student during their doctoral studies at King's.

How to apply

1. Email the B&HI team (iop-biostatisticseducation@kcl.ac.uk) to inform them that you are applying for a HSDTC bursary, stating which B&HI course that you wish to attend. (note: this will not guarentee you a place on this course, and you will still need to book and pay for the place via the eStore  after hearing the outcome of your application, see 4.)

2. Complete this bursary application form, stating which Biostatistics & Health Informatics course you would like to apply for a bursary for.

Visit the Biostatistics & Health Informatics eStore page to view the courses which are currently being offered.

3. We will aim to give you a response from hs-dtc@kcl.ac.uk so that you know in principle whether we can support your fees for your chosen course.

4. Once you have a response from the HSDTC, apply for and pay for your course via the Department of Biostatistics & Health Informatics eStore page.

5. Submit your course payment receipt and B&HI booking confirmation to hs-dtc@kcl.ac.uk to receive a reimbursement of up to £475.

Please Note: We would advise that you submit your application 3-4 weeks before the last booking date for the course you wish to attend. Submitting your application earlier will mean that you will be more likely to hear a response before you apply and pay for your chosen B&HI course. Submitting your application later will not impact your chances of being awarded a bursary, however you may need to apply and pay for the course before hearing the outcome of your bursary application.
